In this recent conversation with Dr. Niki Rarig, one of the few naturopathic doctors on the Central Coast, we learn what naturopathic medicine is, how it's a powerful, effective alternative or complement to conventional Western medicine, and why more and more people (and physicians) are moving toward integrative or functional medicine.

A native of Cayucos, Dr. Rarig tells us about holistic pelvic care therapy, which continues to help me enormously; Maya abdominal therapy; and how acupuncture is saving many from chronic pain and the growing opioid crisis.

Her stories of healing patients through naturopathy are inspiring and poignant. I'm so grateful she shared her time with us! As a patient of Dr. Rarig, I'm beyond grateful for the skill, compassion, and deep caring she brings to our community.

As of January 1, 2018, Dr. Rarig will be taking over as owner of the much-loved East West Natural Medicine Center on Higuera Street at the train tracks, right off Monterey near SLO High. (Nothing else about the practice will change.) This beautiful little healing center was founded in the early 80s. Surrounded by lovely trees and gardens, it feels like walking into someone's home when you go for a treatment.

I hope you enjoy this talk with Dr. Niki Rarig! We're lucky to have her and East West right here in SLO!
